Vancouver to Santiago

The view of Vancouver was spectacular as we took off. With the city below and the snow capped mountains it makes you realize what a beautiful city it is.

Our flight to Dallas was great, arriving in plenty of time to enjoy the Admiral's Lounge before the next leg to Santiago. We borded on time, but a few minutes after we were supposed to take off the captain announced there was a mechanical problem that needed to be fixed. So we sat for another 50 minutes or so before he announced that it was the computer that controlled the thrusters and they couldn't fix it! So we all deplaned, and waited while another plane was brought over from the hanger, had to be cleaned, restocked, luggage etc transferred...... anyway we took off 3 hours late. We were so glad of our decsion to use our points to upgrade to business class - worth every point! Food was great - seats reclined to almost flat..... service wonderful!

After a short nap, it was time to explore the area around our hotel. Streets lined with huge trees, lots of little cafes, fast food joints, shops and even came across 3 Starbucks!
The hotel is great - rooms are small but spotlessly clean and the front desk very helpful.

Time for our first gelato - Frutilla - mmmmm! A lot cheaper than Florence, Italy!
